Freestyle on the Doubs in France

Casper van Kalmthout | Sportscene - When the water level of the Doubs breaks through the magical border of 400 m3/s, all 'big wave lovers' in Europe get excited. The Doubs is home to the waves of 'la Scie', 'la Malate', 'Millenium' and 'Deluz'.

Nowhere else in the world, as on the Doubs, the height, speed, steepness and power of waves gets so close to the well-known violence of Quebecois's waters. De main question that usually rises is: For how long will the water be up? And usually this is no longer than 2 days. But in the week before Christmas 2012 this rule was broken and the gauge of the Doubs stopped at 500 m3/s, the perfect level for la Malate, and didn't move for 10 days! A great excuse for some to evade the family obligations at home!! Check out this video of Sven Joos and Casper van Kalmthout at the Doubs.
