As expected by many, the Hungarian and German juniors accounted for the most direct qualifications for the final with 4 boats each. Romania was also able to present very good results, placing 2 boats directly in the finals, 14 other nations reached the finals directly with one boat each.

ICF President Jose Perurena Lopez today arrived in Brandenburg to officially open the 2011 ICF Junior Canoe Sprint World Championships; this is the President’s first official engagement after being elected IOC Member earlier in the month.
This weekend an estimated 650 athletes from 64 nations around the world will come together at Brandenburg an der Havel on Lake Beetzsee, to compete at the 2011 ICF Junior Canoe Sprint World Championships.
A mild day sparked the opening of action packed racing at the 2011 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Duisburg, Germany. With a light wind cooling the spectators and athletes alike, the scene was set for a great day of racing.
The last World Cup in Račice was exciting as it was nerve-wrecking. There were enough “close calls” to make even the more seasoned athletes a little nervy, for example the Men’s K1 1000m race between the canoeing’s most elite stars.
Early morning mist gave way to blue skies in time for the Saturday finals. Perfect conditions for the athletes to race in. The venue was buzzing in anticipation as racing got under way.
After a very successful first World Cup in Poznan, the athletes are ready to move on to another very unique town and venue – Račice, Czech Republic! The evergreen city is more rural than it is urban with its green meadows, bumpy, winding and narrow streets.
The skies were grey, the winds were strong and the day was cold, but crowds came out in their numbers on this third and final day here at the 2011 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Poznan.
