Duisburg next on the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup Circuit

After concluding a first World Cup that was filled with excitement and anxiety, Canoe Sprint paddlers are now headed to Duisburg, Germany where the second World Cup of the season will be held from 25-27 May. More than 400 paddlers from 57 countries will be competing on the well established Wedau Regatta Course in Sportpark, Duisburg.

The Rise of Alfonso Benavides

Alfonso Benavides, aka “Sete”, is the young Spanish canoeist rapidly rising through the ranks in the last three years. He was crowned with a bronze medal in the C1 200m at the Sprint World Championships last summer in Szeged earning him direct entry to the London 2012 Olympic Games representing Spain.

The Nelo Winter Challenge: Maxime Beaumont claims victory

The second race of the Nelo Winter Challenge has been held in Portugal last weekend, after the one held last month at Pas de Calais (FRA). At the conclusion of both races, the winner was the French paddler, Maxime Beaumont, who had already won the Pas de Calais competition.

Greg Barton nominated for the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame

The four-time Olympic medalist is the most decorated U.S. Olympic canoe/kayak athlete. Barton won the bronze medal in men’s K-1 1000m at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He then earned two gold medals in K1 1000m and K2 1000m at the Seoul 1988 Olympics...
