Canoe Sprint

Afternoon update Day 2 Poznan World Cup Canoe Sprint

After a short break at midday, the 2011 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup picked up later with cooler temperatures and more wind. In the Men’s K1 200m race, World Champion Ed McKeever (GBR) started on the right foot when he qualified directly for the Finals along with Ronny Rauhe (GER), setting up a cracking Final, as was the case throughout 2010.

For the Women’s K1 200m, Reinhardt (GER) and Waiczyiewiccz (POL) also qualified directly into the Final, with Portela (POR) and Osyrenko-Radomska (UKR) ensuring the Final will be a replay of Women’s K1 500m race.

In the mix of the Men’s K2 200m is Heath and Schofield (GBR), Straume and Numjancevs (LAT) and Oztrom and Svensson (SWE). All three qualified directly into the Final and Hybois and Jouve (FRA) qualified through the Semi-Final. This promises to be another enticing Final.

Going to the Women’s K2 200m, Lovell and McGinny (AUS) and Roos and Eerde (NED) both qualified directly to the Finals.

Finally, in the Women’s K2 500m, Mikolalczyk and Konieczna (POL) and Schuring and Schwarz (AUT) won their races and are tipped to be on the podium tomorrow.

That rounds up the day in sunny but windy Poznan!
