In more recent years the regions winding rivers, exciting mountain trails and cycling paths has attracted adventure sport enthusiasts from around the world to the region with mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, cycling, inline skating and of course canoe slalom and rafting amongst the exciting activities on offer for adrenaline seeking junkies.

The Ceske Budejovice Whitewater Stadium is amongst the main tourist attractions in the region and Venue Director Andrej Pinkava believes that this area is prepared for ‘Everyone that is paddling.’

“Slalom and rafting enthusiasts as well as the general public can borrow boats here and enjoy the experience from learning from some of the country’s most experienced paddlers.”

The White Water stadium is also a popular attraction for cycling and inline skating enthusiasts with its surrounding paths drawing more than 9000 people to the venue every day, which is a short 5km ride to the CBD centre and Rosenberg Castle. You can hire bicycles and inline skates from the venue.

Asked what are the main tourist attractions in the area, Pinkava responded, “I hope our slalom course is the main attraction, on the border of the city in direction to the Castle there are a lot of activities say rafting and climbing like this and I think this area, this part of this city can be interesting for the public.”

Pinkava loves the camaraderie which is associated to Rafting and encourages everyone to give the sport ago, with his favourite three aspects of the sport being, “I think it is funny, I think it is a lot of fun paddling through the big waves and the third thing would be the friends that you make.”
