A life outside training. Sprint athlete Sam Hall a creator of comics

Sam Hall, a twenty-year-old Canadian kayaker from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia demonstrates how an athlete’s life can be filled with interests outside of training. Sam is a student at the Nova Scotia College for Art and Design (NSCAD) in Halifax where she has transformed from elementary school doodler into creator of comics. This past summer Sam competed at the Canada Summer Games in Quebec representing Team Nova Scotia, during which she earned four medals.

Tired and freezing owl takes a breather on the end of canoe

An exhausted – and soaked - owl takes a breather on a canoe’s deck after it was rescued from a freezing Finnish lake by a local adventurer. The Northern Hawk Owl was found in the cold waters of Lake Tuusula, just north of Helsinki. Once the owl had been transported ashore and dried off, it was able to fly off to the safety of the forest.

Uno Max Surf Ski Review by Wesley Echols

I paddled it another few times and then made the decision to purchase it. It took me few paddles to figure out the correct foot plate position. What I have found particularly with the more narrow skis like the SES’s, V12, V14, and the Uno Max, a quarter inch can make a huge difference in how comfortable you feel in the bucket. I like to call it a sweet spot. So I had to make sure I wore the same shoes on each paddled to get the fit correct.

Wildwater Kayaker saved by quick thinking friends

On Saturday the 2nd of November James Bradley, Pete Henderon, Carl Ross, Mark Shackleton, Justin Gale, Mark Hardingham and Simon Morse were going for an afternoon paddle down the Lyn in Devon UK.

In one of the drops Mark Hardingham is pushed offline and becomes 'vertically pinned' with his body trapped and his head held underwater by the current! This GoPro clip shows the reactions of his friends who pull him out of this sticky situation just in time.
