Video News Flash: Christine Selinger World Champion
Gold for Christine Selinger at the 2011 World Championships in Szeged. Was the pressure on defending her 2010 World Title? And what advice would she give other women who want to start canoeing?
Watch the video news flash with Christine below.
The 2011 ICF World Championships in Szeged was Christine Selinger’s third World Championships, and she has medaled on each trip. In 2009 Selinger, with K2 partner Chris Pearson, placed third in their K2 mixed TA/A 200m demonstration event. Even though the K2 event didn’t return to the World Championship scene in 2010, Selinger was still determined to make the Canadian team. Instead of giving up, she traded in her double-blade for a single, and hasn’t looked back.
Christine won a gold medal the Women’s V1 LTA 200m event in both 2010 and 2011, and canoeing has become her new focus. She certainly has not forgotten her roots in kayaking, though, and has also placed second in K1 TA 200m event in both 2010 and 2011.
