Christine was introduced to the sport of sprint canoe and kayaking when the Wascana Racing Canoe Club (in Regina, SK) began its PaddleAll program in 2008. This was less than two years after Christine sustained a spinal cord injury in a rappelling incident.

Christine (known to her teammates as “Sully”) has been a part of the Canadian National Team since 2009. She is classed as a TA athlete, meaning she has complete control of her Trunk and Arms, but not her legs. That being said, Christine races in the LTA category in the Women’s V1 event, and is the 2010 and 2011 World Champion in that event. Christine also competes for Canada in the Women’s TA K1 event, placing second at the World Championships in both 2010 and 2011.

Christine’s love for the outdoors extends past canoe and kayaking, though, evidenced by her 2010 Nootka No Limits expedition; an expedition which made her the first paraplegic to traverse BC’s Nootka Trail. Christine also has two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Education and one in Science, both with a major in Mathematics and a minor in English. She is hoping to teach Secondary Mathematics one day.
