Kieran Babich | Team Wash Rider | Day 2 - Today was a long day for all competitors, and the longest of the Rio Negro Regatta, being 59.4km. Both the K2 and K1 starts were called back for a second rolling start.

The second K1 start was full of waves, pace and jostling for position as a large bunch formed. This bunch would only settle for five minutes at a time before the leader would stop and see who would take up the top job. The large pack stayed together until about 20 minutes in, when Gaston Goana (Argentine K2 Marathon representative) came from the back of the bunch to apply some pressure. The bunch adjusted around him with a few athletes being dropped off the back of the bunch, with few managing to pull back over the messy water to join them again. The attacks on the front continued for the rest of the first hour creating a long line of chasers off the back of the front bunch who was made of; Gaston Goana, Sebastion Leyes, Alfredo Quinenao and Nico Salvo.

The race settled as the kayakers' reconciled the distance they would have the cover and the constant annoyance of weed in the river. The long line of paddlers from the original bunch leap frogged each other many times until the finish as some paddlers found and then lost their energy or motivation. A number of paddlers felt the heat, with some unfortunately taking a swim and having to empty there kayaks. Sebastion Leyes, a favourite for the K1 Seniors, unfortunately was one to take a swim when with 5km to go two junior paddlers couldn't control their kayaks.

The final standings for the stage were 1. A.Quinenao, 2. Gaston Goana, 3. Manuel Labrin in men open senior.
