Connor Taras
Connor Taras comes from the small town of Waverley in Nova Scotia. He is the oldest of a brother and sister from who he gets his inspiration from to push himself to excel. From an early age he has participated in sports from hockey to track and field. He has always pushed to be the best in sports and academic. It has definitely been the case for his paddling career thus far.
He currently is attending Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, NS where he is completing a bachelor of Business Administration with a major in marketing. He completes all his courses via distance programs so he can maintain his full time training schedule.
During his first 4 years on the National team, Connor has achieved some pretty huge accomplishments already. In 2007 he was a silver medalist at the Junior World Championships, which made him part of the first ever canadian crew to get a medal at a Junior World Championships. He was the 2007 IKON Team of the Year recipient, and has already achieved a bronze and silver medal at some World Cups. Recently he got a silver medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Just missing out on the Olympics in 2012, Connor is on a mission.
