Canoe Slalom

“Fan meets Champ” with Corinna Kuhnle

Often heard is the complaint that media does not pay much attention to paddle sports. And if they do it tends to be superficial. Not that racing, the medal winners and so on are not important, but as we all know there is more.

Sportscene is probably the only company in the world that pays more and in-depth attention the world of paddle sports, the athletes and other topics that are relevant to the community. Earlier this year we produced for example a special with Daniele Molmenti and Jessica Fox, both hosted by Kelly Vanderbeek. Total time of these two videos is about 32 minutes, which is already more than you will ever see in a year from all athletes in the world in a specific discipline. At least from an in-depth perspective.

This time we went for a hike with the current World Champion Canoe Slalom Corinna Kuhnle from Austria. She happened to be in Australia for her warm weather training so we visited the Blue Mountains. The concept we tried as a kind of experiment was a fan catching up with the world champion. The fan might not know everything about the sport but is obviously super curious. Also spending more time together - going for a hike - had the intention to make the conversation more natural. Or at least create a different atmosphere than when interviewing right after or before a race. You can see the result of this experiment in the video above.

We are interested in all athletes, coaches and other people involved in the sport: 24/7. Regardless whether you are world champion or an enthusiastic competition paddler. Unfortunately we do not have enough time to give every sport and athlete the attention they deserve. With this new Sportscene website for paddle sports we hope to improve this a little bit.
