By Nina Jelenc | The Krakow slalom course will host another major canoeing event this year. After the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup race took place in June it's the youngster’s turn this time. The 2015 ECA Junior and U23 European Canoe Slalom will start on Wednesday with an opening ceremony at the competition course, with first races following on Thursday.

More than 300 boats from 25 countries, including Germany, France, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Austria, Croatia, Portugal, Ukraine, Netherlands, Sweden, Andorra, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Greece, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and of course Poland, will participate at this championships on the Vistula River.

The first competition day will start with the heats in women’s canoe and men’s canoe and kayak events in both age categories – junior and U23. In the morning part of the programme juniors will show their skills, while competitors in the U23 category will follow at 14:00. On Friday all the first heats runs of K1 women and C2 men will be run in the morning, with only the women’s second heats run following in the afternoon. Men’s C2 order will be determined after the first qualification run, because all participating boats will proceed to the semifinals and it has been agreed they will not start in the second run.

The first medals will be awarded on Saturday when we will see individual and team finals in C1 women, C1 men and K1 men events both in junior and U23 categories. The championships will conclude on Sunday with the K1 women and C2 men fighting for European Champion titles in individual and team events.
