Kierey advances from rank four to rank three due to the doping offence of Yuriy Kikhayev from Ukraine at the previous world championships in Moscow. Initially, the athlete, who had started as titleholder in the LTA division in the K1, came in fourth place on the Krylatskoye race course on the 8th of August 2014.

For the first time the canoeing community was part of the E.ON Hanse AlsterCup along the “Jungfernstieg” promenade. The German Canoe Federation sent their best athletes for the sprint races on the 200m track and for the canoe polo tournament, where Switzerland women and Denmark men were opponents.
