Rest In Peace - paracanoeist David “Rolfie” Rolfe
David was a 2000 Paralympic Games bronze medallist in swimming but it was canoeing that was his passion a decade on from his triumph at the Sydney Games.
He was a dedicated dad, and one of the most beautiful men to ever walk this earth. He recently died from an infection following three open heart surgeries during the past 12 months.
Rolfie was a kind and generous man who after losing his leg in a motor vehicle accident dedicated time to supporting and mentoring others and was a Paralympic Games medalist in his discipline of backstroke.
In recent years, Rolfie was studying at university to be a primary school teacher - a path he chose to follow after mentoring and supporting so many younger athletes to encourage and challenge them to do their best.
I want to let the younger people with a disability know about kayaking. It is such a fun and wonderful sport.
