Iran Schleder | Sportscene - The last day of competitions for Sprint Canoe on the 2014 South American Games was marked by rush disputes in all categories. The competition was held in Lake Cuarama, region of Valparaiso, and all of them competing on distances of 200 meters. Argentina kept the hegemony and Brazil got on second place. Ecuador took the third on the medal table. 

The first event of the day was the K1 Male competition that had the Brazilian athlete succeed a gold medal with Edson Isaias Freitas (33.101). Cesar de Cesare, recognized name in the team of Ecuador, conquered the silver medal with a mark of 33.241. The third place was hold by the Argentinean Ruben Rezola.

The second event, C1 Male 200m, had as champion another Brazilian. Nivalter Santos de Jesus (time of 37.971) with 2 milliseconds of advance from the 2nd place took the gold medal. The silver medal came to the host country Chile, with the athlete Alvaro D. Torres Raguileo, and the bronze medal to Andres F. Lazo from Ecuador.

The K1 Female 200m gave the first gold medal of the day for Argentina. Sabrina I. Ameghino made a great race and finished with 39.351. The silver medal was for Ysumy O. Orellana Trigo, Chile, with the mark of 40.354, and completing the podium was the Ecuadorian Stefanie M. Perdomo. 

Coming back to the female competition, the fourth event of the day and last female competition of 2014 South American Games, the C1 200m had on the golden place Anggie N. Avegno, athlete from Ecuador, crossing the finish line in 47.351 seconds. On the dispute for the silver medal, Nancy J. Millan Valdes from Chile brought the title for the host country in 47.468 seconds. The bronze medal was held by the Brazilian Valdenice Conceição in the time of 48.773 seconds.

The last competition of the South American Games in the Sprint Canoe was the K2 Male 200m, having as champions the Argentineans Miguel A. Correa and Ruben Rezola on the mark of 30.874 seconds. The silver medal was held by the Brazilians Hans Mallmann and Edson Isaias Freitas on 31.682 seconds. And the third place was for Ecuadorian double Cesar de Cesare and Yautung B. Cueva.

On the order for the medal table on Sprint Canoe the Argentinean team won the gold medal (with 6 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze), Brazil arrived in second place and had the silver medal of the global score (with 5 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze). The third place was the surprise of team Equator, with 1 gold conquered on the last day (that gave them the title of the global score bronze medal), 1 silver and 3 bronze.

The closing ceremony of all sports of the 2014 South American Games will occur on the 18th March.
