Hungarian sprint coach Istvan Kiss - Large crew, new opportunities

Source: Kajak-Kenu Sport | Translation: Frank Seksardi - The expanded crew of the Honved Canoe Club is had their 2nd week at the Tata training camp facility. The athletes of Istvan Kiss's are in the middle of the winter preparation and really look forward to their arrival in Sevilla, Spain and get on the water.
They achieved great results at the physical test & trials for the national team in December. Seeing the massive improvements on the test results of the kayak paddlers coach Istvan kiss is having big hopes for the coming season in 2015.
According to the new qualification system the first distance at the qualification race for the world championship will be the k2 1000. Thanks to the expansion of the team the club can line up at least 5 different crews at the start line. Istvan Kiss:
"I believe that it had a great effect on everyone that new athletes have joined our team. The new members are the Noé brothers, Matyas Koleszár and Olivér Gergely. They fit perfectly into the group and all of them have found the right training partners within the team so that they can help and push each other let's say in running or swimming for instance."
"One of the benefits of the larger number of athletes that I can line up at least 5 crews at the qualification races and that we have great chances at either the senior, u23 or u21 field as well..."
He highlights Bence Dombvari (bronze medal in K1 1000m at the World Championship in 2013) who he would prefer to see racing in single at the Olympic Qualification Championship in Milan this year. I'm happy with the new qualification system because this way we don't need to give up on the 2nd best double either and we have plenty if time to work out the best combination of crews. I'm planning to try many different set ups.
Back in time it took long time to find the best combination that achieved silver at the World Championship and 4th place at the European Championship (Gonczy-Kokeny duo). So I believe that we can put some really solid doubles together this year too.
Roland Kokeny & Tibor Hufnagel have big hopes for the coming season but I also expect a lot from the Noé brothers whom either will race together or with other partners separately at the qualification races.
I'd like to believe that not only 3-4 of my athletes will match the high senior level. There can be huge potential in fast improvement at the age of 20-23.
