Australian Dual Olympic sprint kayaker, Hannah Davis, is replacing her kayak with hiking boots and her kayak paddle with walking poles, and is going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro! In June, Hannah will head to Tanzania, Africa, where she will trek to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro.

This challenge will see a team of dedicated fundraisers taking on the adventure of a lifetime whilst raising much needed funds for vulnerable children in Ethiopia. The team will trek for seven days through rainforests, ice fields and alpine meadows, ultimately finding themselves on top of the world’s highest freestanding mountain.

The Kilimanjaro Climb for Kids 2014 will raise funds for UNICEF’s Mobile Health Nutrition Teams (MHNT), which target places where no other access to healthcare is available.

Inspired by UNICEF’s work, Hannah chose take on this challenge as an opportunity to push her own boundaries while experiencing something completely new! Her gratitude for the quality of readily available healthcare that all Australians, no matter what their age, have access to also inspired Hannah to take up this challenge. Not only will her participation in the Kilimanjaro Climb for Kids 2014 allow her to demonstrate this gratitude, but it will also give her an opportunity to contribute to the good health of thousands of impoverished African children, of which she believes is a fundamental human right.

With a fundraising goal of $10 000, Hannah currently sits at the $8700 mark. She would be thrilled for you paddling community to share in her journey by making a donation!

How your contribution helps:

  • $270 Provides life-long protection for 1,000 children against measles.
  • $504 Provides 1,200 sachets of therapeutic food to help restore the health of malnourished children.
  • $610 Turns 500,000 litres of dirty water into drinking water through the provision of water purification tablets.
  • $1,732 Helps ensure the safe delivery of 50 babies via the provision of a Maternal Health Kit for a maternity ward.
