The U23 Men’s K1 200 was a nail-biter that was too close to call.  Six paddlers crossed the line split seconds apart.  Gold went to Russia’s Aleksandr Nikolaev with a time of (00:34.70), silver to Hungary’s Miklós Dudas with a time of (00:34.76) and a tie for bronze at (00:34.78) for Bulgaria’s Kristian Dushev and Spain’s Carlos Garrote.

All eyes were peeled to on the U23 Men’s K4 1000 final.  Slovakia had a ¾ boat lead for the first half of the race.  At the 500-metre mark Russia, Hungary and Serbia began to surge forward and closed the gap for a close finish.

Medal Standings

I am very happy with our win.  We want to thank our coach, our family and everyone who supported us.  Our stay in Canada was perfect, especially Niagara Falls.  The course was the best I have been on.
