Paddlesports.ru | Translator: Anton Knesis | Proofreader: Katie Ellis - The building of water and paddle sports centre is underway in the village of Yaksatovo in the region of Astrakhan, Russia. This year, the regional government has allocated 900 million rubles for the construction of this new centre.

The same amount will be invested in 2015 for its completion. It is significant that this water and paddle sports centre is being built within the framework of the federal target programme aimed at developing "Russian physical sport and culture, 2006-2015." The scheduled opening date is for some time next year.

The paddle sports centre in Yaksatovo will become a training base for the Russian national rowing, canoeing and kayaking teams. The centre will include slipways for rowing boats, canoes/kayaks, motor boats and catamarans. Additionally, a finishing tower, administrative block, two residential buildings, a sports complex, a medical rehabilitation centre and a rowing (paddling) pool will be built on the same site. All complex blocks will be connected with covered passageways. There will also be build a football field with a  stand for 500 people, basketball and volleyball courts, four tennis courts and a running track.

In addition, under the "Russian Federation football development, 2008-2015" programme the village of Liman is building a modern football field with artificial turf. For this, the region received a subsidy from the federal target programme for the construction of a 7000-seat sports and entertainment complex in Astrakhan.
