Liptovsky Mikulas, Areál vodného slalomu Ondreja Cibáka
The canoe slalom venue is located on southeast outskirt of Liptovsky Mikulas on the left bank of river Váh. It was opened in 1978 and built by Mr. Ondrej Cibák.
In 2002 course No. 2 undertook extensive reconstruction works followed by reconstruction works of course No. 1 in 2004. The beginning of the course is made by an inlet canal finishing with a starting pool of 680m, followed by 2 separate courses which approximately join in the middle and come back together in the river.
The left course is of a lower difficulty and is called ”Váh”. The right one is shorter, yet more difficult and is called ”Orava”.
The whole course was excavated by machines but the banks are covered by rounded boulders, which give the course a natural look. A peaceful character is also given by lawns, grass terraces and several bridges, paths and benches.
